After a slowish start things are really picking up now.
We have just done a Stag weekend in Oxford in partnership with Woodland Ways.......good luck Yoyo in May. Next weekend I am in Staffordshire with Survival School, the following Tuesday is the first "Institute of Outdoor Learning (IOL) accredited practitioner in bushcraft training session" in Derbyshire which finishes on Thursday and I am then down in Wiltshire on Friday for a weekend course with Wilderness Survival Skills. It's then back up to Derbyshire the following Tuesday for an IOL bushcraft practitioner assessment.
My second CBBC appearance, "Little Howard's Big Question" which we filmed in Epping Forest last November was finally screened last Thursday. It can be viewed on BBC i-player @

Latest News
We have added a couple of new sections to the website. There is now a section with advice on clothing selection for desert environments http://tinyurl.com/borxhj and we have just launched "Desert Survival Tips" where each week (or thereabouts!) a new tip for surviving in the desert will be published. The first one is on rationing water loss and can be downloaded as a pdf file http://tinyurl.com/apmzsr
The planned charity fund raising trip on motorbike to Morocco this autumn has now been postponed/changed. It will now take place in October/November 2011 and will be to Timbuktu (Tombouctou) in Mali. Planning will begin in June when we will be attending the Horizons Unlimited meeting in Ripley, Derbyshire. We will certainly keep you uptodate with any news.
For any one interested we are currently looking into a Desert Adventures trip to Mali and Mauritania, possibly for 2010 or early 2011.

Take on Africa and Eye for Africa
Together with Wilderness Survival Skills we have just provided a Survival Course for Helen LLoyd (Take On Africa) and Alan Wells and Ian Mowbray-Williams (Eye On Africa) who are soon to embark on the fantastic adventure of cycling from the UK to Cape Town in South Africa, whilst raising money for their respective charities.
The course was focused on the conditions and environments they are likely to encounter on route and despite the somewhat un-african temperatures a great course was had by all.
To follow their adventures go to http://tinyurl.com/bx32dv and http://tinyurl.com/af8gbx

Wind down!
The manic fortnight is over!
The day's filming for "Little Howard's Big Question" in Epping Forest went well and should be screened in the new year.
The Survival School Wayfarers Course was a great success, with all 9 of the clients on the course building outstanding shelters and managing to fend for themselves with minimal equipment for the last 24 hours.
The assessment to become an approved bushcraft trainer for the IOL was daunting but went well despite the freezing temperatures and the snow!! I will now be carrying out the first training sessions with Dave Watson from Woodland Survival Crafts in March next year.
This year is winding down with just three more courses in the UK before Christmas, but already next year is becoming booked up.

Manic 10 Days!
A couple of busy weeks coming up.....
Starting off next Friday with more T.V. work (it's a tough job but someone has to do it!). This time it's another new childrens programme for CBBC, I'll post more info later.
Saturday is a "Hen Do" for Woodland Ways Ltd www.woodland-ways.co.uk and then on Sunday it's up to Scotland with Survival School www.survivalschoolco.uk for 6 days helping out on their Wayfarers Course.
That finishes on the Friday and on the Saturday I am on a 2 day workshop in Derbyshire to be assessed on becoming an approved Bushcraft and Survival Skills trainer for the Institute of Outdoor Learning.
This is all a far cry from the sun and sand but it's important to keep the basic skills up to scratch.
